About This Tour
Overview

This 5-night journey traces Odisha's golden triangle of temples — three of India's holiest and most spectacular shrine cities along the Bay of Bengal. Arrive in Bhubaneshwar, the "City of Temples", where over 500 shrines span a thousand years of Kalinga architecture. Marvel at the towering Lingaraj Temple (11th century), the exquisitely carved Mukteswara Temple — often called the gem of Kalinga art — and the sculpted nymphs of the Rajarani Temple. Drive east to Konark, where the 13th-century Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rises as a colossal stone chariot drawn by seven horses, its 24 wheels carved with astonishing precision. Continue along the coast to Puri — one of India's four dhams — for darshan at the Jagannath Temple and golden evenings on Puri Beach. On the return leg, pause at Dhauli where Emperor Ashoka laid down his arms after the Kalinga War and embraced Buddhism, marked today by the white Shanti Stupa and the famous rock edicts, then visit Pipli, the colourful village of appliqué artisans whose bright chandua canopies decorate temples and homes across India. A short, soulful immersion in the sacred architecture, living faith and coastal calm of Odisha.

Good to Know
FAQ
1
What is the best time to visit Odisha's temple triangle?
October to March is ideal — pleasant days, cool evenings and clear skies for the Konark sunrise and Puri beach. Winter (December–February) is perfect for temple hopping; avoid the monsoon (June–September) when coastal roads can get heavy rain, though the temples themselves remain beautiful in the green season.
2
Do I need a visa or special permits?
An Indian tourist visa is required for most nationalities (e-visa available online). No special permits are needed for Bhubaneshwar, Konark or Puri — it's a straightforward domestic circuit within Odisha, so you only need your passport and visa for entry into India.
3
What should I know about temple visits and dress?
Modest dress is appreciated — shoulders and knees covered. Shoes must be removed before entering the sanctums. At the Jagannath Temple in Puri, only Hindus may enter the inner sanctum, but non-Hindus can see the towering temple and the car festival traditions from the viewing platform. The Konark Sun Temple is a monument (not an active shrine) and open to everyone.
4
How far apart are the three cities?
Very close and easy — Bhubaneshwar to Konark is about 65 km (1.5–2 hrs), Konark to Puri about 35 km (45 min), and Puri back to Bhubaneshwar about 60 km (1.5–2 hrs). Dhauli and Pipli lie conveniently on the Puri–Bhubaneshwar route, so no backtracking is wasted. All driving is on good highways in a private A/C vehicle.
5
What should I pack for this tour?
Light cotton clothing for the warm coastal climate, a light wrap or scarf for temple visits (and to cover shoulders), comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit if you'd like to dip at Puri. Mornings by the sea can be breezy in winter, so carry a light jacket. Cash in small notes helps for temple offerings and market shopping.
6
Can I extend this tour?
Yes — popular extensions include a half-day boat safari on Chilika Lake (Irrawaddy dolphins and bird islands), the pattachitra painters of Raghurajpur, the tribal museum circuit, or extra beach days at Puri or Gopalpur-on-Sea. We'll happily tailor the route and nights to your dates and interests.
