Delhi has been the seat of at least seven historic cities, and this weekend sweeps you through the best of all of them. Day one belongs to Shahjahanabad, Old Delhi of the Mughals: the ramparts and halls of the Red Fort, the courtyard and domes of Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, and the clang and aroma of Chandni Chowk, where our guide leads a street-food walk through Paranthe Wali Gali and past Khari Baoli, Asia's largest spice market. Quiet closes the day at Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi on the Yamuna. Day two crosses into New Delhi and the Sultanate era: the fluted sandstone tiers of the Qutub Minar and the rust-free Iron Pillar in its courtyard, then the perfectly proportioned Humayun's Tomb, the garden tomb that inspired the Taj Mahal, the white lotus petals of the Lotus Temple, and the imperial sweep of Raisina Hill, India Gate and the President's Estate as the evening lights come on. The final morning is slower: lakeside Hauz Khas with its medieval madrasa ruins and café terraces, Lodhi Garden's domed tombs, and handicrafts at Dilli Haat before departure. Travel is by private AC car with a Vedantaa chauffeur who knows which gate opens where, and the weekend pairs neatly with our Agra day trip or the Golden Triangle if you wish to continue.

- Overnight: Delhi.

- Yes, for the essentials. With a private car and an early start each day, two nights comfortably cover Old Delhi, the two garden UNESCO monuments, Qutub Minar and the imperial stretch of New Delhi. Add a third night if you want the National Museum, Akshardham or a slower food trail.
- Delhi has three: the Red Fort, the Qutub Minar complex and Humayun's Tomb. All three are included in this itinerary, along with living heritage like Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and Hauz Khas that doesn't carry the tag but carries the history.
- You travel in a private AC car with a chauffeur who times each crossing around peak traffic. For the Old Delhi lanes we switch to rickshaws on foot, which is half the fun. The itinerary sequences sights to keep drives short: south Delhi on Sunday morning before the crowds, Old Delhi by early afternoon.
- October to March is ideal: clear skies and pleasant walking weather. Summers are hot but manageable with early starts, and the monuments open at sunrise. Monsoon weeks bring dramatic skies over the ruins and thinner crowds.
- Absolutely. Agra is 100 minutes away by Gatimaan or Vande Bharat express, so a Taj Mahal day trip slots straight onto Monday, and the full Golden Triangle by Vedantaa begins from exactly this weekend. Tell us your dates and we will extend the same car and driver.
