Best time to visit: October to March is ideal. Tribal markets operate weekly on specific days (see itinerary). The tour is designed around these market days.
Photography: Always ask permission before photographing tribal community members. Some tribes (particularly the Bonda) may request a small fee. Respect their wishes if they decline.
Dress code: Modest, conservative clothing covering shoulders and knees is recommended, especially when visiting temples and tribal villages. Remove footwear before entering temple premises.
Temple entry: The Jagannath Temple in Puri permits entry only to Hindus. Non-Hindu guests can view from the Raghunandan Library viewing platform. Most other temples are open to all.
Road conditions: Some roads in tribal areas are unpaved and winding. The journey is part of the experience - enjoy the scenic landscapes of the Eastern Ghats. A sturdy, comfortable vehicle is provided.
