Begin the Vaishno Devi trek at dawn from Banganga (1.5 km from Katra). The 14 km round-trip trek through scenic Himalayan terrain leads to the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi — one of India's most visited pilgrimage sites, drawing over 8 million devotees annually. Pony and helicopter services are available.

After breakfast, check out and drive through the spectacular Patnitop and Banihal Pass to Srinagar (~265 km). On arrival at Dal Lake, board your traditional cedar wood houseboat — a quintessential Kashmiri experience. Your houseboat steward will welcome you with Kashmiri kahwa.

Drive to Gulmarg (56 km) — translating to "Meadow of Flowers" — one of Asia's finest ski resorts and India's only Gondola cable car destination. At 2,650 m altitude, the snow-covered slopes and pine forests are spectacular in all seasons.

Drive from Gulmarg back via Srinagar to Pahalgam (95 km from Srinagar). En route, stop at the ancient Awantipora ruins — a 9th-century Hindu temple complex. Pahalgam sits at 2,130 m on the banks of the glacial Lidder River and is the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra.

The sacred Amarnath Yatra — one of Hinduism's most challenging and revered pilgrimages. The traditional Pahalgam route (32 km one way) passes through Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni before reaching the holy Amarnath Cave at 3,888 m, where the naturally formed ice Shivling is enshrined.

An early morning drive over Khardung La Pass — at 5,359 m one of the world's highest motorable roads — before descending to the surreal Pangong Tso Lake at 4,350 m. The 134 km lake, straddling India and China, changes colour from turquoise to blue throughout the day.
