About This Tour
Overview

This 8-night journey is an immersion into the breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural tapestry of Assam β€” India's northeast gateway. Beginning in Guwahati, the largest city in the Northeast, the tour travels east to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's foremost refuge for the great one-horned rhinoceros. From the grasslands of Kaziranga, the route crosses the Brahmaputra to Majuli Island β€” the world's largest river island and the cultural capital of Assam, home to ancient Vaishnavite monasteries (Sattras) and the Mishing tribe. The tour culminates in Jorhat, surrounded by rolling tea gardens, with a day trip to the ancient Ahom capital of Sibsagar β€” a landscape of towering Shiva temples, royal palaces, and Asia's oldest amphitheatre. All national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in Assam are open for visitors from 1st November to 30th April, as per forest department regulations.
